Recycling your old electricals

Electrical and electronic products, including vape devices and their batteries, shouldn’t go in your household bin. They contain materials that can harm the environment and valuable materials that can be recovered and reused.

Free take-back for our Amazon customers

If you’ve bought a new electrical product from The Mackay Shop on Amazon.co.uk, you can send us an old product of the same type for recycling, free of charge. It doesn’t matter what brand the old product is or where you bought it.

How to arrange a free return

1

Email us

Email us at enquiries@themackayshop.co.uk with your Amazon, eBay or website order number and a description of the item you want to recycle.

2

Get your label

We’ll send you a free prepaid returns label.

3

Pack and drop off

Pack the item as described below, attach the label and drop it off.

Packing your item safely

  • Send the device whole. Don’t take it apart or remove the battery.
  • Don’t send devices with damaged, swollen or leaking batteries. Take these to your local recycling centre instead.
  • Use a strong box and seal all seams with tape.
  • Mark the outside of the parcel “LITHIUM BATTERIES FOR RECYCLING”.

Other ways to recycle

You can also take old electricals, including vapes, to your local household waste recycling centre. To find your nearest one, enter your postcode at recycleyourelectricals.org.uk.

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol

Products marked with a crossed-out wheelie bin must not be thrown away with household waste. They should be taken to a separate collection point for recycling.
